As defined by the American Physical Therapy Association, trigger point dry needling is a skilled intervention used by therapists to release taut bands of muscle fibers potentially responsible for pain and limitations in range of motion.
'Dry needling is a technique used to treat dysfunctions in skeletal muscle, fascia, and connective tissue, and, diminish persistent peripheral nociceptive input (pain), and reduce or restore impairments of body structure and function leading to improved activity and participation."
If you want more information- the physiological basis behind dry needling depends on whether the taut band of skeletal muscle fiber is of active or latent variety. With a clinical evaluation by our expert Doctors of Physical Therapy, we will be able to identify the sub-type of contracted skeletal muscle and intervene appropriately.
These contracted muscle fibers can be visualized by magnetic resonance imaging and sonography elastrography- and are thought to be the cause of over-active motor & nerve end-plates. These end-plates release a neurotransmitter that continually causes the muscle to contract, and can cause changes at both peripheral nerve, spinal cord, and brain tissue levels.

- At P.I.N.E., trigger point dry needling is performed via the expert hands of doctorate level therapists.
- Each session lasts 30-45 minutes.
- This service does not include a formal evaluation, as it is considered an ancillary rehabilitation service not specific to any one medical condition. If you feel you need a more specific approach, an initial evaluation may be more appropriate.
- We only accept electronic mobile transfer (think Venmo), cash, or check.
- The cost for a single visit is $100
- Packages are also available:
- 5 visits for $425
